Telluride is an absolutely stunning mountain town, nestled in the San Juan Mountains of Southern Colorado. Telluride is mostly known for world-class skiing and an abundance of extreme outdoor adventure, but it also makes a great family vacation destination! Here are a few things to do with kiddos of all ages.

Hiking/Skiing

This is a pretty obvious one, but definitely important to mention! Telluride Resort offers a great ski school, and a child watch program for kiddos too young to ski. The child watch (called Cubs Camp) is also open in the Summer from June 19th to September 1st from 9AM to 4PM if you want to enjoy an adults only lunch or hike! I recommend Bear Creek Trail for families of all ages. The trailhead starts in town and brings you to a gorgeous waterfall!

Mountain Village Activity Center

From June 19th-September 6th Mountain Village hosts an adventure center with a bungee trampoline and mining sluice!

Mountain Village Music

On Wednesday nights starting June 19th and going through August 16th, Mountain Village hosts a free music series. With a large grass lawn and amazing views this is a great way to spend the evening. Kiddos can run around and parents can relax to some good tunes.

Town Park

Not to be missed by families with toddlers and teens alike, Telluride Town Park has something for everyone. From a heated outdoor public pool, to sand volleyball, tennis courts and an amazing playground, this is a great place to spend some time soaking in the sun & views.

Horseback Riding

I think this is one of the absolute best ways to see the mountains. Action Adventure Rides offers a ride for all skill levels. Children 5 & up are allowed on the rides.

Jeep Tour

Another amazing way to explore the mountains of Telluride is a jeep tour! You can explore remote terrain with an experienced driver; just sit back, relax, and enjoy the views.

Hot Springs

If you are traveling with or renting a car, take a trip to Ouray Hot Springs. Just an hour away, this is another unique mountain town nestled in a box canyon. This hot springs offers a great kids pool, and you can spend time walking around the historic downtown. Make sure to stop by Ouray Brewery for rooftop views and a great burger!

Kids Camps

For a unique experience tailored to your kiddos, check out Telluride’s many summer camps. From outdoor camps that include hiking, rock climbing & paddle-boarding, to art camp, sports camp, music camp, and even science camp there is something for everyone! No one gets to say they are bored with so many options!

Family Photo Session

What better way to commemorate your family vacation than a family photo session? Instead of just bringing back the memories, you will bring back family heirlooms that will last a lifetime (or several). There are many picturesque locations accessible by Gondola, so no car is no problem! Check out Savannah H. Photography for timeless, colorful, and fun family portraits!
