Senior Photos in Crested Butte

There is nothing quite like summertime senior photos in Crested Butte, Colorado. Known as the wildflower capital of Colorado, July in Crested Butte is absolutely magical. Kate & her family traveled from Texas and wanted to capture her senior portraits while on vacation. I kept joking that her photos were going to one-up all of her classmates!

Crested Butte Photo Locations

As a Crested Butte photographer, I have a whole array of incredible locations. From fields of wildflowers, to lakes & streams, to views of Mt. Crested Butte- I have got you covered! We split our session between two of my favorite locations so that we could capture both a gorgeous alpine lake and tiptoe through the tulips...haha!

Peanut Lake: Just outside of town, Peanut Lake is the perfect Crested Butte location. With a great view of Mt. Crested Butte, beautiful open fields, and a gorgeous lake- there's not much left to want for. It is part of the Crested Butte Land Trust so if you want to get married here you will need to pay for a permit. Family, senior & couples sessions are A-OK though!

Woods Walk Trail: Another lovely Crested Butte location, Woods Walk Trail is only a short walk from Peanut Lake- making it easy to get two beautiful locations during your session! With beautiful open fields, large aspen trees and expansive views, it covers all the bases! July is a particularly great month for this location- the trail is filled with wildflower fields!

What to wear to your senior photo session

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable & confident! If you prefer a dreamy look, choose pastel colors, off-whites, and soft prints. If you are wanting to achieve a dramatic look, choose colors that are bright and bold. Mixing textures helps create visual interest, and bringing a few outer layer options can help create a few different looks. If our session is in the mountains, bring a comfortable pair of shoes you can slip on in between shots. Make sure to dress for the weather!

Kate absolutely nailed it with her outfit choices. For outfit number once she went with a dressier option. A cute blue romper and some simple heels popped against white daisies and lush green grass.

Outfit two brought a little taste of Texas to Colorado. A leather skirt & cowboy boots gave elevated western vibes, and we even found a wooden fence to match the vibe.

Kate's last outfit was a pastel dream. I LOVE white denim in the summer and her textured pink top really complimented the scenery, and added visual interest to the shots.
